Volunteer Highlight

By: Daniella Martinez, Client & Volunteer Relations Specialist

This month we are highlighting  our wonderful volunteer, Clara Lambert.

Clara is a stage III Lung Cancer survivor. Clara never says no to taking on a client! She shares her love with others facing cancer because she knows the challenges they are  facing very well.

Clara is a native Texan, where she attended U of H and majored in marketing which led to her career in fashion. Soon after graduating, she  started her own company in image consulting that recently celebrated 40 years  of helping clients create and show the best version of themselves. Clara is an incredibly positive person and believes that how you look affects how you  feel and in turn affects the energy you give. She loves helping people and  has made a career out of it.

Clara is a "plant  mom" and loves growing things in her garden. But sharing her cancer  journey is truly her favorite thing to do. She considers it her “purpose in  life” and believes she survived cancer to help others.

She found CanCare by being a  hospital volunteer and seeing other CanCare volunteers in the radiation  center speaking to clients. She is so involved with the hospital volunteer  program that she is often asked to speak at events and fundraise to bring  awareness to Lung Cancer. Clara is truly immersed in providing support and  shares that “there is no bigger high than to add something positive into  someone’s life”.

When asked about the gift  cancer gave her, she said that cancer has connected her with so many people  all around the US and has connected her with a wonderful community. Clara is  such an inspiration and has clearly found her purpose and CanCare is just grateful  we are a part of her calling.
